Dear Friends of the Inn,                                                                                December 8, 2014

Winter has definitely settled in and it’s time to extend a special holiday greeting to all supporters of Inn From The Cold. I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Wendy Sue Lyttle, appointed recently as your Interim Executive Director at the Inn. I’ve been learning a lot about the incredible work taking place here, and realize that it’s because of your generosity that the shelter is now in its tenth year of operation. In just the past month, additional funding allowed the Inn to open earlier on November 3rd. To date, the shelter has provided overnight stays for 302 guests.

Your support helps with needs that are not funded by government grants. Your donations have already helped with up to 400 community meals per month, food supplies and winter clothing. But we are still in need of support for programs that are over and above the funding we receive, for example:

  • Eat Inn Catering, our growing social enterprise
  • New employment programs and facilitators
  • Tools and materials for new programs, such as a gardening internship
  • Additional food and warm clothing

Imagine how many more people will come to us for help over the next few months! Could you find it in your heart to provide an additional holiday gift to help those with nowhere to turn? We’d be so grateful, and it would help so many who are in transition. Consider the story of Sara who came through our doors this past February:

Sara had lost her housing, was unemployed and had hit rock bottom. It was suggested she try the internship with Eat Inn Catering. The staff at IFTC helped her find housing and she was eventually offered a full-time position in the kitchen as a baker and kitchen assistant. Her life was changed for the better through the support she received.

These kinds of success stories don’t happen by accident. They can only continue with your support. Please show that it’s truly the season of warmth this year and give an additional gift to support Inn From The Cold. Even a small gift will help. You can donate online by visiting our website and clicking on the “Donate Now” button, or by mailing your cheque to the Inn.

If you’ve already donated this holiday season,

thank you so much for your support!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season. Once again, please know how much your contribution to the Inn is valued. Our guests depend on you! And by reaching out to those less fortunate than yourself, you’ve made your community a better place to live.

All the best,

Wendy Sue Lyttle, CAE, CSP
Interim Executive Director
Inn From The Cold

A charitable tax receipt will be sent for your donation of $20 or more.
